[[abstract]]Taiwan has become one of the world's largest overseas investors and net exporters of capital. Due to this, the infrastructure is severely strained, therefore the government is striving to cope with the situation by fostering national economic policies in an attempt to enhance Taiwan's competitiveness in the international market and maintain economic growth. This paper discusses the "Go South" policy which strives to strengthen bilateral investment, trade and other substantive relations with the countries of Southeast Asia.
